The first meeting of the new trustees of the Recreation Ground was held on Thursday,18 July.

The Charity Commission's Scheme established a new, fully independent trustee body for the Rec.  The first four trustees are Don Earley of Fields in Trust, David Durdan of the Somerset Playing Fields Association and Councillors Tim Ball and David Dixon of Bath and North East Somerset Council.

At least three more trustees will be appointed by these first trustees.  This will be through a recruitment process aimed at attracting the further skills and experience needed by the Trust.

The trustees elected Councillor David Dixon as their Chair and David Durdan as Vice-Chair.  They adopted a governing document and a conflicts of interest policy.  They also reviewed the finances of the trust and considered a programme of work for the coming months.

Newly elected Chair of Trustees David Dixon said;

"The new Rec Trust is now up and running and we are looking forward to appointing the additional trustees that will complete the new body.  There are some big issues facing us, including the responsibilities for the Leisure Centre and the position of the Rugby Club.  The trust now has the ability to deal with these matters and is in good shape to do so".
